Creator Note

The Abell & Priest studio was located 723 Market Street, San Francisco, California. Frank George Abell, Jr. (1844-1910), was b. in Roscoe, Winnebago County, Ill., on Sept. 20, 1844 and immigrated with his family to Petaluma, California. He was active throughout the northern California and Oregon before operating the Abell & Priest photographic gallery in San Francisco with Charles F. Priest in the Bancroft History Building at 723 Market Street, San Francisco, until around 1897.
