Thomas Bidwell (Bid) Greene is steering the River Queen and Amelia Greene is sitting at the side of the boat.

Biographical or Historical Note

Bid Greene operated a recreational boat on the Russian River between Rio Nido and Guerneville in the 1940s and 1950s. He was born in Shasta, Calif. on Nov. 19, 1887 and moved to Sonoma County in 1919 after serving in World War I. He was first married to Alma Greene (1891-1976), but divorced in the 1930s. He remarried to Amelia Thole Green, principal of Monroe School on Irwin Lane in Santa Rosa. Bid Green died in Sebastopol, Calif. on Oct. 2, 1978.
