Biographical or Historical Note

The automatic gate was manufactured and distributed by The Lloyd Co. located on Copeland Street and Washington Street, Petaluma; testimonial from purchaser printed at bottom of the photograph. Image taken in 1905 (reprinted in 1912 catalog). William S. Miller is listed in the 1905 Crocker-Langley directory as living at the Palace Hotel; in 1912, his residence is listed as the Fairmont Hotel.
