- Photo--black and white: Thomas Russell Smith (1859-1927) profile--Alvina Amelia Smith Dohm Garceau's (1910-1999) father taken about 1900, San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA--Thomas Russell Smith grew up in Stockton, CA then moved to San Francisco and then retired in Gold Ridge Township in Sebastopol in about 1912 (Photo obtained from owner Marian Elizabeth Smith Hungerford Wattel (1947-) in Stockton, San Joaquin, USA). T R Smith was the clerk when Gold Ridge School was built. He was the clerk on the school board for all of Sebastopol or just Gold Ridge District or the construction project. That is documented on the front page of the Sebastopol Times in August 19, 1916. Also the mayor in 1916 was J. B. Loser. The Sebastopol times goes through the entire election process and after all of the trustees were elected, the trustees appointed him mayor in 1916 and he was very active in 1917.
