- Photo--black and white: Staff from the Stark Pomological Research Laboratories are checking a cherry tree at Gold Ridge Farm. One man stands on ladder and two men on ground in suits and hats. The man on the right is John T. Bregger. 1927. Burbank experimented with 200 different new kinds of sweet cherries on this one "nurse tree" by mean of multiple grafts, which resulted in quick fruit production. After Burbank died in 1926, Mrs. Burbank leased the property to Stark Brothers Nursery of Missouri.
