Description

Photo--black and white: Camp Meeker Living Tower with man in foreground with back to camera looking at tower. The Living Tower was built as a recreational attraction for Camp Meeker. Platforms were built connecting the four redwoods to form a tower. It is said that on a clear day, five counties were visible from the top of the tower. Camp Meeker was built by mill man M.C. "Boss" Meeker in the heart of the Occidental redwoods. Meeker sold 70 lots in 1898 for camping and recreation. In 1900, Meeker sold the property to Henry Gregson. The tower burned down in the 1940s.
