Photo--black and white: Pilot Sam Huck Sr. receiving flowers from "Tee" McMinamin (Rose) who was a writer for the San Francisco Examiner at the May 16, 1928 Air Show. Huck is seated in a Jenny biplane. The May 16th air show rated a public holiday in Sebastopol as thousands showed up to watch the arrival of noted pilots and planes from the Bay Area and elsewhere. The Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" is a series of biplane aircraft built by the Curtiss Aeroplane Company of Hammondsport, New York, later the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company. The Curtiss JN series (the common nickname was derived from "JN") was produced as a training aircraft for the U.S. Army although the "Jenny" became the "backbone of American post-war aviation."
