A quokka's journey

This is a 7th grade children's book project from Greenville Elementary School. The students who wrote this story our Journey, Bowers, bailey Cassidy and Gillian vittori. The readers today are bailey Cassidy and Gillian vittori aquatic. A journey. This story is dedicated to all the people who are

feeling down and frustrated of caracas. Journey by journey. Bowers, bailey Cassidy and Gillian vittori Felix is a very nice young quacka who loves to play with his friends. Felix is nine years old and he is in mrs Cocos Third Grade Class. He's very playful and kind

to others while also liking to have fun and mess around. He lives in the southern hemisphere of earth where is hotter and winter and cooler and summer. A haka is a type of wall be they are around the size of a cat and sleep during the

day but are awake at night. They are very cute cuddly and are a warm shade of brown. 11 Western Australia where they sleep with their family. No warm homes of bushes and groups. The night before the first day of school, Felix tossed and turned. He could

hear the whisper of his parents voices and what they said made his stomach rumble. His face burn in his head world with fear. He was so freaked. He flew off his bed and flopped on the floor and frustration. His mom gently whispered. It would be hard

on Felix presses what's going on. Let's wait to tell him. At least for a little while. His dad grumbled in response. He looks friends are good kids. They will be able to make, they will be able to help them through it. After a long pause, his

mom quietly mumbled. I guess so. The next morning when Felix woke up, his parents told him that they were moving far away to a bigger house in the town. Across the country, Felix grabbed his stomach, he could feel the sting of tears in his eyes, but

he just kicked as hard as he could at the ground and grumbled under his breath. Whatever. As he slumped out of the door and catch the bus With every step he took, Felix's inner voice tried to calm him down. It's going to be okay, it's going

to be okay. Maybe a new town means a new start, he thought, but somehow he just couldn't believe it. Yeah, when he met up with his friends at the bus stop, he was still thinking about it. Kaden, one of his friends broke into thoughts and asked

me, are you okay? Felix paused for a minute but simply mumbled, Yeah, I'm fine. The whole time Felix was on the bus, he was thinking about moving. Once he got to school, he decided to stop worrying about it so he could focus on school. When Felix

was done playing a sweaty, hot game of basketball, he stomped up to his locker with a burning bulb, finger knotted up inside of him, Felix crammed his basketball angrily to the rusty old blue walker, shoving and jamming until crash. He slammed the middle door ship, playing

bang. His face burned bright and turned as red as a tomato. His fists were bald so tight, his knuckles turned white so the ringing in his ears. He suddenly heard a soft humming and giggle as a reading. His girl with long ears bounced up to the

locker, next in and carefully spun her luck or he cleared at her from the side of his eye. He didn't really know her, but he recognized her from the science class. She was the girl with the amazing project of an exploding volcano. He thought to himself

hot, Her name is Rose Felix decided to get rid of his anger by ripping olive roses books out of her hand and throwing them against the wall, Felix gnarled. Why did your parents named me Rose? Were you born in a garden? Are you thorny? It sure

wasn't because you smell good because you stink. Your name shouldn't be rosy smell like garbage instead of fighting back. Rose tilted her head to one side and smiled at him. Then she turned on one heel and went to find someone to help her out. The school

counselor helped Rose feel better by listening to what Rose had been through. Mm said Rose. It did kind of make me feel like garbage to have someone be mean to me, but I feel better now because saying it out loud is a way to take the

sting out of my feelings. I wonder if Felix needs to talk about something. He sure is full of anger. The counselor finds Felix and help him stop being so worried about moving Felix and the council or decided to get together every day for daily sessions. They

talked for about an hour just to help Felix calm down and get his emotions out in a better way. They talk about three bad things and then I talk about three good things to balance it out. Since talking to the counselor, Felix is a lot less

angry. He has been talking to her for a couple of weeks now and is feeling a lot better. Felix realized what he did was wrong and decided to go apologize to Rose. When he finds Rose up the lunch, he approaches her, he says, I'm sorry I

had things going on at home and there's no reason to take them out on you. She listens and after a minute response, but it's okay. Just please don't do it again to me or anyone else. After that, they become friends. Now when Felix moves to his

new home, he will still be able to stay in touch with all of his new friends and his old ones too. Felix lend a valuable lesson. If you're angry, don't bully other people. We never need to take our anger on others. We can find help for

negative feelings and find a way to control them. And the first step is to talk about what we feel. If you're feeling stressed or angry, talk to a parent or teacher for help, we would like to say thank you to Miss Cleanser and Miss Amanda for

all their help in making the story better and giving us feedback. And I would like to thank these students for doing a great job of organizing their story using this plot diagram. Um they decided upon their big idea, bullying, so the theme of bullying and then

their thematic message, what they wanted to say about bullying and can I get bailey to read the thematic statement here? Yeah, owing him be caused by many things, but you should always get help with your negative fumes. So hopefully that's the message you took away from

the story that they wrote based on the characters, the conflict, the turning point in how the main character dealt with that conflict and how the solution of the story came about. The students also developed cost us questions at the end of the writing of their story.

Um their level one questions are answers can be found in the text because this is the gathering level of thinking. Their questions are who is the main character? Why is Felix mad, Why did Felix take his, who did Felix take his anger out on? And then

level two bumps us into a higher level of thinking because we're not just gathering information from the text. We have to activate our brain to break down and examine information closely and see how it's connected. So we've got compare and contrast how Felix deals with stress

to how Rose deals with stress, identify what was making Felix stressed, compare roses mood in the beginning to Felix's mood in the beginning. And then we bump up into the highest level of thinking which is our apply level because we take the information we've gathered. We

have processed it by breaking it down and seeing how it's connected and now we apply it to our own experience and create our own judgments and evaluations around it. Imagine if you were Felix, how would you deal with his problems? Imagine you were Felix? What would

you do? I hope that this story has inspired you not just to remember that bullying can be caused by many things, but you should always get help with negative feelings, but also that you are inspired to read, write and think like these seventh graders at Granville
