- Description
- Photo--black and white: Luther Burbank's 'famous' cherry tree at his Gold Ridge Experiment Farm in Sebastopol. Burbank grafted over 200 cherry varieties on this one tree. This would allow the different varieties he was experiment with to mature faster than planting an individual tree for each. Handwritten on verso: "This famous cherry tree at the Sebastopol place. On this tree Mr. Burbank tested hundreds of grafts, using the tree almost as one would a seed-bed--as the planting ground for selected seedlings." Circa 1928.
