- Photo--hand colored: Peter Masuoka in U.S. Military uniform circa 1943. Masuoka was senior class president of Analy Union High School in 1940 and was the first American of Japanese ancestry to receive the American Legion Citizenship Award in Sonoma County upon his graduation. Masuoka joined the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT) made up of Japanese-American volunteers. The extraordinary courage of the men of the 442nd made it the most decorated unit in U. His parents were notified of his death while they were still interned in the Amache Relocation Center in Colorado.
