Different, but friends

This is a 6th grade children's book project from Greenville Elementary School students. The title of the story is Different but Friends. It was written by Anya Templin. Casey coop Maxine, um Sofia, caracappa, ivy, Garcia, Jackie vargas and Naevia Rodriguez. These amazing illustrations were done by Anya

Templin who has also volunteered to read for us today. Thank you Anya. His story is dedicated to you reader. You inspired us to write this story different but Friends once upon a time in a sunny forest. The animals called Friendship forest that lived a bouncy brown

bunny named Bluebell and her bunny lamp. She lived in a cool, deep dug burrow that smelled of soil and dried herbs. Google went to the snug and cosy friendship for schoolhouse with all her money friends and her teacher Miss these. While Bluebell was at her bunny

school only little stage, a tiny green snake was packing up to move to sunny friendship Forest with his parents. His parents wanted him to see the world. Yeah, we fog hollow, which was where he lives. He stared out the window and listen to the rain outside,

drip, drip with the clouds. Boom with the rolling thunder. Later that evening the good dinner of mama bunnies, famous carrots do with a scrumptious salad on the side. Bluebell chattered about her day at school saying Poppy and I had so much fun doing the dried flower

art project at school today. Mom, are you and I should do it with Rosie after mama put Rosie to bed that night. Blue Bell took her warm paw and let her outside. They sat in the soft green grass and looked up at the navy blue sky

stuff called the stars mama said google the start of jewels scattered on a blank dark canvas. I love the start. I love them too. You go, they remind me to be kind and shed light on others. After mama bunny talked to google and her snug and

company. That google heard mama and papa talking about a new family meeting in nearby. Did you hear about that family that is moving in? I wonder where from where their house will be helping. I'm sure it will be fine cuba will have an opportunity to make

a new friend mama said gently. How about paying? No mind and drifted off into a sound. The next morning bo woke up to the smell of ripe strawberries and carrots for breakfast. She's at the round wooden kitchen table and watched her sister. Tekere strawberry mash. She

heard mama say her name and turned around to look at her. I'm a bunny said well there will be a new student today Miss basil stopped by before you were up and told me this will be a good opportunity to make a new friend. Yeah I

can't wait to make a new bunny friend! Exclaimed bobo. Oh but you go, he's not a bunny, said mama. What is he asked, bubble, trying to recall all the conversation she had heard overheard the night before. We'll see soon enough all the way to school that

sunny, bright morning. Global wondered, she wondered about who the new student might be. He could be a striped badger, a baby raccoon or a fluffy fox maybe, but probably not a baby baboon. While Global was walking to school, see the snake was slithering his way to.

He wondered what the animals would think of him. He knew there had never been a sneak in the friendship for a schoolhouse. Global took a seat at her desk next to her friend Poppy and waited for Miss basil to enter the room with the new students.

She was surprised to see a snake, the space will introduce the snake, saying hello everyone. I would like you to meet stage. The classic screened hello stage. During that day at school, Rebel looked up from her book before recess and studied stage. He was green all

the ferns, a familiar thing. Snake approached her. Hi stage, she said kindly though she had intentions of helping into her burrow. Hello Below green snake said charlie. Um Well, well I wanted to ask you if you would be my friend. You seem kinder than some of

the other animals in school today. I saw that you helped miss basil and gave probably a spare pencil so I thought it would be a good friend. This was not a question that bluebell was prepared for. And suddenly, to her own surprise, she didn't feel very

kind. She thought about what Poppies brother had said to her months ago about how snakes are scary. Mhm. She suddenly did not want to make a new friend. Uh stage, I can't be your friend. She put it out. I just can't at this moment little Sage

got angry but also sad. He said to himself, I knew I would not read friends here, I just knew it. They stared at each other for what felt like a long time before sadly going off to their own homes. We well hopped into a barrel slow

and sulking. She sat down in her little rocking chair next to mama bunny is a big one, mama bunny was knitting a scarf for papa to wear and it got cold and she noticed bubbles. Sochi mood right away. What is the matter? Bluebell you look like

you just eat the sour apple and friendship forest. Did you make a new friend today? Well, new mama would be disappointed in the way she had acted, but she was already regretting what she had done. So she told mama anyway, No mama, I did not make

a new friend stages a snake. How can I be friends with a snake? She slept. Oh, bluebell mama, funny as she pulled her daughter close just because a person is different from you doesn't mean they can't be your friend or that they should be treated badly.

Do you think he deserved that? No mama, I know he didn't and I have to apologize. The next morning after breakfast of carrots and strawberries Global set out onto the lawn underlying, playing with encouragement from Albany to apologize to stage. She thought about how sad he

probably was as she passed her little garden and then about what she would say as she knew the little rock house stage looked in, we will knocked on the mosque the little door and mama's think opened it. Bluebell kindly asked would it be okay if I

talk to say I'm bluebell from his class and I have an apology to make mama snake gently said she took a walk to his favorite flower escalade that has a stream running through the corner. You know where it is? Blue Bell didn't know where it was

and it was her favorite forest glade too. So she exclaimed, Oh yes, I love that spot to as bilbo crept up to the sunny little ugly, She stepped on a stick that made a loud crunch stage, turned his head to where she stood and Bluebell took

a deep breath stage. I really wanted to apologize for what I said yesterday. I had heard that thanks for me, but I realized that putting labels on people's not something I want to do. It was not fair of me at all and you never did anything

to get treated like that. I hope you can forgive me and we can be friends after all. I would love to be friends with you, Bluebell And I'm also sorry that I yelled. I guess sometimes I act rude when I feel people are being mean to

me. You shouldn't have to apologize for treating me the same way I had just treated you. It was me who started the meanest. I'm glad you forgive me and Google really was relieved. Stage was very glad that he had made his first friend in friendship forest.

After that everything was back to normal in friendship for us. Friends skip down the road underlying lanes and played hide and seek among the ferns. Sergeant Barbeau made friends with all different kinds of animals and lives happily ever after Medic message, true friendship. We come to

understand each other's differences so we can be less judgmental. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us. And I want to point out that these students worked collaboratively to organize their story by mapping it out in a plot diagram. They thought about the big idea,

they wanted to make a story about friendship and then they thought about the theme, the thematic message that they wanted to say about friendship and then they came up with the characters and the setting and a conflict that was going to have a turning point and

resolve so that they could convey their message. After they wrote their stories, they developed Costas Level questions, cost is levels are ways that we categorize our thinking starting with some level one questions. Level one questions are where you gather information from the text. So their level

one questions are what events lead to Bluebell apologizing this age, who helped Bluebell realize her wrongdoing, who became bluebells best friend. All of the answers for these questions are in the text Level two bumps us into a higher level of thinking that engages the brain to

do some analysis to break things down and examine them closely. So these are processing questions where you take what you've learned from the text and you process it number one, describe in your own words what it means for bluebell and Sage to become friends and for

bluebell to apologize, number to compare and contrast bluebells and SAGES reactions when they get into the argument, how are their reactions similar and how are they different? Number three compare and contrast blue belt feelings when Sage asked to be her friend and her feelings when she

thinks about what she has done. And then we bump into the highest level of thinking which is where we take what we have gathered from the text, what we have processed from the text and we apply it to our own thinking and processing of the world.

Their level three questions are one because the story about a bunny and a snake becoming friends really happen. What do you think? Why are why not number to judge whether it was fair of Bluebell to say that she wouldn't be saved his friend just because he

was a snake, explain your thinking and number three, Imagine you were Bluebell when Sage asked to be your friend. What would you have said? I hope you enjoyed this story and I hope it inspires you not just to read and write and think, but also to
