Biographical or Historical Note

The Rodney Foppiano Memorial Scholarship for students majoring in viticulture/enology at California State University, Fresno, was established in memory of Foppiano Vineyards founder Giovanni Foppiano's grandson and brother of Foppiano president Lou Foppiano, Jr., Rodney (Rod) Foppiano. Rod died in 1984. Lou Foppiano, Jr. was initially director of sales and marketing, but took over operations as general vice president after his brother's death. See the September 30th, 1987 issue of the Healdsburg Tribune, page A3 for information about the 1987 scholarship.
