- Photo--black and white: Altamont Hotel--Occidental CA as seen after a 1899 addition. The W.B. Coy's general merchandise store is visible on the left. Various men standing in front of hotel including on left John Bones in buggy with his rat-tailed stud 'Charlie Horse' . John D.'Arcy Connally, proprietor, in front to the right of man in white shirt and vest. Connally was the son-in-law of Andrew Jackson Blaney (with cane) who was the first Post Master of Occidental . John McCandless is man with dark shirt and white suspenders. Photo taken after 1914 as the Altamont Hotel burned down in 1914 fire. Fiori's Restaurant later was located on this spot.
