The Pulsators keep up with pulse of Petaluma

Guitarist McKenzie reflects on local group’s decades of success The story of the Petaluma act mirrors that of many small-town bands in Amer¬ ica. The group formed in 1989 as a trio that included current members, guitar¬ ist Douglas Ian McKenzie and Johnny Campbell, the band’s singer, songwrit¬ er and drummer. Both had an extensive prior history as members of other lo¬ cal bands, and had been part of a music community playing at local bars and The Phoenix Theatre.
